As a guy that enjoys being active and pushing my physical abilities, I consistently find myself banged up, bruised, sore and having minor injuries. After putting off seeing a PT for far too long, I discovered Dr. Zanis. Our initial evaluation showed a number of imbalances and opportunities to avoid these minor issues with consistent work and maintenance going forward. Matt took the time to understand my goals, MY physiology, and design a plan not only to fix my issues, but to keep me healthy and balanced. Often times, the “issue” is not the cause. Matt is a genius when it comes to figuring out the cause, no matter what the “injury” may be. From there, he took the time to teach me about the causes and effects. Not just fixing my issue, by offering the next level of PT, “prehab.” Since then, I’ve had no back issues and see him regularly for maintenance. For major injuries, he is also the only PT I would refer anyone to. I recently had a major shoulder surgery (labrum, rotator cuff, and several other clean up items). My Ortho knows Matt and recommended I see him as often as possible post-op. With Matt’s knowledge and experience, I’m a full 3-4 weeks ahead of schedule in my recovery process according to my Ortho. Matt designed an entire rehab protocol for me to work on daily between visits. My Ortho is “amazed” at how quickly I’m regaining mobility, flexibility, and strength. Between a great Ortho and an even better PT, I’m on the road to a full recovery. In my opinion, Dr. Zanis is the one of the top PTs in the country.

I wanted to share this quick story with you. On May 19, 2012 I set off to walk Rim to Rim to Rim in the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, my inexperience with ultra-distances got the best of me. I had to turn around 1.5 miles from the top of the North Rim. Having completed 45 of 48 miles, I always felt that I would return to complete what I started.   In May of 2013 I suffered from severe pain in my right hip crease. After numerous attempts to find a cure through PT and deep tissue massage, I pretty much came to terms with the fact that my pain was something I could mitigate, but not relieve myself of. This also meant that my dream of a solo RRR was all but dead. How could I enter the canyon knowing that there was a high probability that my hip would seize up and I’d have no way to hike out. I kept picturing myself sitting in the dark, on the bottom of the canyon, thinking “ok, now what”? Then I found myself on your table in December of 2016. “Dry needling” you say. Ok, what the hell let’s try it! After one treatment I felt more relief than I had in years. Literally 90% of the pain was gone. After two treatments I actually forgot that my hip used to hurt. During a summit of Camelback mountain on Christmas Eve, I realized that my dream of completing a solo RRR was not gone. Let the training begin. I’ll keep breaking things as long as you keep fixing them. Thanks for everything Matt.

Doc Matt is insane! He literally made my pain disappear in 3 visits and during the appointments he gave me the tools to take care of myself. I am so happy with him and the entire staff, I would definitely encourage you to see him if you are having any pain what so ever. Best in Arizona!

I initially saw Dr. Matt a few years back for a lower back issue and after that a nagging shoulder injury. It’s refreshing to see someone that understands how frustrating injuries can be and truly wants to get you back in the game. Not only will he make your pain manageable and eventually disappear but he gives you a plan along with accessory work that really benefits your recovery. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment if you have an injury that just won’t go away, you won’t regret it.
